Why do we find it okay as artists to redo "the greats" arts, to make 1:1 of them, to use them as practice, to refference them in our own works,

But then if you did the same with a small artist's work, you're suddenly an art theif, a cheater, a liar, a terrible person??

Why is it acceptable for me to make fanart of any anime character I so please, but if I come across someone's OCs online I'm expected to ask their concent if I wanna make fanart?

Small artists and "the greats" are the same, we're all just artists.

I genuinly don't understand it. If I want to paint a 1:1 of The desperate Man (Gustave Courbet), or if I wanna make a thousand fanarts of Deadpool that's fully okay, but if I even think of doing that with a small artist, it's suddenly one of the worst treasons I could have ever commited on art and I get stripped of my title of artist??

That's the thing I hate the most of the art community too, you're expected to know from the beginning all these sets of "rules" and are never given an explanation to them

Like, I remember getting fucking torn to shreads on instagram once, when I was fucking 11-12 years old, because I found a drawing I liked on google, decided to redraw it in the exact style with different colors for the characters, like?? Sorry, I am a *child* who doesn't know shit about the internet and tried to do something I thought was nice and neat???

And the worst part is, deppending where your art lands? Some artists will tell you it's okay, there's no rules to art, do as you want!

And others will send you death threats for so much as existing bruh.

To me personally, I fall in the category of art has one rule; don't claim another person's work as your own. Don't just screenshot someone's art, post it and say you made it.

(Obv with the new age, don't use A.I., but that'll never be art so.. 💀)

For everything else, there are no rules. Trace, copy, make a 1:1, build upon pre-existing works, draw someone's OCs, share your own OCs, inspire yourself of different works and mediums, do as you wish, share what you want, art is not something to be gatekept, it's the most human thing there is. Music, drawing, painting, writing, feeling inspired, Creating. it all comes to us naturally as humans. We all love beauty and creating it. Let's not stop eachother from experiencing the beauty of creation. ♡

Also, never try to ruin someone else's work or tear them down, but that mostly applies to everything in life, not art specifically..

Lets build a beautiful community together and nurture eachother's talents with love and appreciation ♡

Summary: Vamp Eddie is hiding in Steve’s basement being hunted by a vampire hunter. Steve is protecting him while trying to find a cure

Steve pulled into the driveway and nearly has a heart attack as Eddie Munson was standing in his doorway. Eddie being in his house isn’t that startling considering he’s been living in his basement for a few months, and they’ve been dating for nearly that long. No, it’s the sunlight laced across the porch, so near to Eddie’s toes they were almost bathed in it.

Steve ran to the door, ushered Eddie back in, much to the latter’s annoyance, and slammed the door. “Eddie! What the hell are you doing?” Steve huffed. Eddie ignored him.

“What did Owens say?” He asked bouncing on the balls of his feet. Steve sighed and glanced away.

“They haven’t made any progress” he admitted quietly. He hated this part; when Eddie’s shoulders slumped, when he held back the tears, when he pretended like everything was fine. Like he hasn’t been stuck in Steve’s basement for nearly three months.

But today was different. Today, Eddie looked at him, rolled his eyes, and moved to the back door. “Eddie what are you doing?” Steve asked again but the other man didn’t hear him. He opened the back door and stepped into the sun room. Steve sprinted to the front door for an umbrella then ran toward Eddie. He barely stopped in time as he realized Eddie was standing in the shaded part, still.

His arms were wrapped around himself tightly, all his muscles were locked, as if he was holding himself in place.

“I wanna be free again, Stevie. I wanna feel the sunlight on my skin.” He sighed, longing filled his eyes as he stared at the patch of light along the lounge chair. Steve couldn’t stand this. He didn’t know much about Eddie before all this, but now? He’d do anything to make him happy. “Now, not only can I not go outside during the day, I can’t go out at night either with this dude after me!” He turned and screamed at Steve. “It wasn’t bad enough that I died? That I came back a monster? That I can’t lay in the sun with my boyfriend?” Ranted as he paced. “I can’t even get a midnight snack because some crazy dude decided my life was forfeit!” He sighed as he dropped to the ground. “All I want is freedom, Stevie.” His eyes filled with tears as he glanced up at him.

Steve stared at the man he loved for a moment before he sat next to him on the floor. “You’re not a monster.” He told him as he grabbed his hand. “I know I can’t fix it, but I’m here. I’ll always stay with you, beside you. I promise.” Steve whispered as he moved closer. “I know you hate the dark, but I’ll hold you and guide you through it, until we can get you to the light again.” He swore as if committing an oath.

“And after?” Eddie whispered. At Steve’s questioning sound he sighed. “After I’m back to normal,” Steve appreciated that he didn’t say if, “Will you still want me here?”

Steve chuckled, at first thinking it was a joke, but the look of fear and sadness on Eddies face stopped him. He shifted to this knees end pulled Eddie in close.

“I want you by my side always.” Steve said as he held the other man.

“Will you say it?” Eddie whispered. Steve smiled softly. It was a bit of a daily ritual at this point. He’d had a hard time in the beginning but now?

“I love you, Eddie. Now and forever.” Steve vowed.

“And?” Eddie asked as he pulled back to see him.

“As soon as this is over, I’ll take you to see the ocean.” Steve kissed his hair. “We’ll watch the sunrise over the horizon and watch it light up the water. We’ll learn how to surf together.”

“When I’m cured, and I move out of Hawkins, you’ll come with me?” Eddie asked. Eddie needed to leave, but he couldn’t leave without Steve.

“Anywhere,” Steve dropped to his knees and held Eddie’s hands. “Anywhere you go, I’ll go too.” Steve begged.

“I love you, too.” Eddie replied as he pulled Steve up from the ground. “I’d go anywhere with you.” He pressed his lips softly to Steve’s.

Favorite color? - RED WHITE AND BLUE BABY !! Red being my all time favorite, everything I own is red. Also orange and black and brown I love very much.

Favorite type of music? - If you know me at all you know I listen to a huge variety, damn near just about anything. I always circle back to 70's country rock or nu metal though.

Favorite childhood sport? - Baseball, I loved it up until I had my knee replacements and was never really able to pick it back up again.

imo yeah. smarter people than me have written dissections of the way he treats sam & others (he’s also Awful to his psuedo-son jack, but i haven’t gotten to that season yet), i’ve probably reblogged a bunch of them.

he certainly doesn’t mean to be & i don’t say it to condemn him as a person or as a character & i’m still very attached to him & he loves sam very much (not that that makes a difference in whether u abuse someone or not) - but the way he treats sam a lot/some of the time is emotionally abusive and sam is clearly badly impacted. s4 and s8 come to mind as his worst moments also ofc moc era - after that there’s less interpersonal conflict (up to where i am at least) but that’s because sam mostly stops disagreeing with dean not because dean actually gets much better <3 spn is cycles of abuse show after all. family is hell. dean’s learnt pretty much everything about how to behave from his abusive father and as a result. well. cycle continues

I wanted to go on a drawing spree yesterday, but I could only muster these two before dozing off.

First one, even if I'm not that sure about how I drew her face shape in this angle (and most importantly I forgot her neck and torso bandages OOPS) I do really like how most of the drawing came out. And at least it isn't a bland bust this time, though I'm pretty sure I've already drawn a pose like this before. (Oh no the next drawing is a 3/4 bust again..)

Second, yesterday I saw an artist draw some of the coolest redesigns ever for a different media piece, and thought about the many awesome gg redesigns I often see so I wanted to give A.B.A a spin... Except I was out of ideas so most of this drawing is her regular design haha. I got too tired to even try to attempt to draw the rest of the body and half-assed the key but I like the vibes and pose (even if I.. think I made her neck a bit too long? Old habits die hard... Necks are my enemies when drawing!)

I like the idea of her having a key take on the classic frankenstein bolts (though wait, her head key is referred to as a screw. Would this also be a screw or key shaped bolts??-)

this one <3 It's not even like, something i put a great deal of effort into or anything, but idk, it just makes me think of the DAO crew in a really fond and nostalgic way and it always gets me in the mood to play Origins

This Hawke estate pixel art i did at one point! I uhh avoid interiors a lot oops (not good, have to stop doing that) & haven't really tried pixel art or isometric art before, so this was tough! Also a lot of fun though :)

i’m so done with this shit. i don’t want to get political but

why do people (namely in the sp community) insist on censoring israel and not palestine? like here’s the deal. i support the free palestine movements. i acknowledge everything that is going on in palestine

but you also have to acknowledge october 7th. you have to acknowledge what went down in its entirety. yes. i support free palestine. but here’s how it’s gonna be for me. if you wanna talk to me about not wanting matt and trey to make an episode revolving around israel and palestine, you either censor one or censor neither. i would be saying the same exact thing if people were censoring palestine and not israel. i don’t care if you ‘don’t want the pro israel people to find my post’, i don’t want either side to find my posts. i’m not fully educated on the issue and i don’t feel like getting into political discourse.

so that’s my rule. if you wanna send an ask in, you either censor both of you censor none. and yes. i get that this doesn’t directly affect me since i don’t belong to either religious/ethnic group. but it does affect people of those groups when you turn an entire group into what you view those involved in the war is. it may not affect me but it affects others. and i don’t stand with that. i don’t care which side you take in this conflict but i am not into the discourse that’s been going on in my inbox. i’m not fucking dealing with it. if it has the potential to hurt someone it’s not going on my blog and it will be deleted. i don’t care.

I just read your tags on your reblog (of the thing I stole your tags for 😅) and - you know the moment in the cartoon where Kash says "we were hoping Earth Wind and Fire here could assist" and everybody looks at Keyleth and Keyleth looks the other way first like "...oh you mean me??" Also I love that scene in TLOVM so much I get what you mean by the whole "oh you mean me thing" sjshdjdn I'd probably be a lil shocked too but I'm genuinely am like. A big fan. Getting even this ask got me fangirling all over again!! I love your art so much and you have such an accurate way of portraying Scanlan it drives me nuts!! Both your design and characterization in comics and such just ahh!! Being able to say that's my boy!!! Is so exciting to me!!

It's so hard to find people who are decent about Scanlan it's insane though!! I've seen Scanlan be put through such hellish miss characterization and exclusion. Often times treated more like a thing than a person in my opinion. (Sam's characters as a whole I think are very slept on. Like even with big character reveals the only time I've seen fcg really be posted a LOT about was in relation to romance) on the rare occasion where I see someone who clearly appreciates Scanlan's complexities they basically get immediately engrained into my brain just like you have. Though with how much you've posted of him I think you're past simply engrained and just are part of my brain now.

Also warts and all is a funny way to put it while also being very accurate ajshsjsn but if I dive into that this post though I'd end out discovering what's the word limit on Tumblr 😅
